Hyundai has expanded the Venue lineup in India with the introduction of a new HX 5 Plus variant, priced at Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). Positioned between the HX 5 and HX 6 trims, This new trim sits between the HX 5 and HX 6 and is designed to introduce certain premium features at an attainable price. It sits a reasonably sweet-ish spot in the middle in terms of pricing too, positioned around Rs 85,000 dearer than the HX 5 and Rs 43,000 cheaper than the HX 6, and thus ideal for buyers wanting the additional comfort but not at the cost of greatly stretching the budget.

The Venue HX 5 Plus now wears roof rails, quad-beam LED headlights (as opposed to halogen), and a rear wiper with washer on the outside — content previously limited to the top trims. At the interior, the features which Hyundai have added, includes now a wireless phone charger, front centre armrest, rear window sunshade and drive side window with auto up/down feature. The HX 6 variant also gives the upgrades, while seating, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, semi-digital instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four-speaker audio system, manual air conditioning and single-pane sunroof are selected from the HX 5-specific theme.
Safety remains unchanged and the HX 5 Plus is still equipped with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, ISOFIX child seat mounts and a rear parking camera and sensors. But tech like ADAS, ventilated seats, ambient lighting, auto climate control, and 4-wheel disc brakes stay exclusive to the higher-end trims. The Venue range now features nine variants and expect the HX 5 Plus to be offered in monotone colour options only.
The HX 5 Plus is powered by a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with an output of 83 PS and 114 Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission only. The Hyundai Venue competes in the very crowded sub-4-metre SUV space alongside the likes of the Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and Nissan Magnite.
